In ancient China, the cicada was given the symbolism of resurrection and immortality, from the late Zhou Dynasty to the Han Dynasty funeral, people always put a jade cicada into the mouth of the deceased in order to seek refuge and immortality. In ancient literature, the cicada was considered to be a symbol of purity, as it “drank the wind and drank the dew”. In Western culture, the cicada is the image of a virtuoso. Until now, harps around the world have been decorated with cicadas as a symbol.
